Giovanni Malagò has officially declared his intention to run for the presidency of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). “As I had previously stated, and I keep my word, out of institutional respect for the then-president in Rome, Cio Coventry, and all the components, I emphasized that I would clear up any doubts immediately after this moment. I confirm that tomorrow morning I will submit my candidacy for the FIGC presidency,” Malagò told ANSA.
Malagò’s announcement comes ahead of the upcoming FIGC elections, and he has already garnered backing from Serie B clubs, who have expressed their support for his bid. The move signals a significant step in Italian football’s governance, with Malagò aiming to bring stability and progress to the federation. His candidacy is expected to draw attention from various stakeholders within the sport, as the election process unfolds.
