With a slightly damp track, the number 93 rider made the most of the conditions to set the fastest time on Saturday, securing the top spot on Sunday’s starting grid ahead of Frenchman Johann Zarco.
The overnight and early morning storms in Jerez de la Frontera affected the track conditions, but Marc Márquez dominated the session and began to gain ground in the championship standings.
The rider from Cervera acknowledged to DAZN: “The conditions helped; on a dry track, Álex was the best. I wanted to do two laps to lower the temperature, but I saw Di Giannantonio was messing around. One lap was enough. We’ll have to see in the race, which is said to be dry, to see our level. The sprint will be one thing, and the long race another. The important thing will be to finish among the top three.”
Álex Márquez finished fifth.
With this result, Marc Márquez claims the 75th pole of his career, his first since Hungary 2025. The reigning world champion sits fifth in the championship with 45 points. Behind the Lleida-born rider, the starting order will be Johann Zarco, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, and Álex Márquez.
