On May 11, Beijing time, the 58th World Table Tennis Championships team event in London concluded with the Chinese national table tennis team once again sweeping both the men’s and women’s team titles. To capture this historic moment, a commemorative stamp titled “The Chinese Table Tennis Team Wins the Men’s and Women’s Team Championships at the 58th World Table Tennis Championships” has been officially released, using the small format of a stamp to preserve the century-old legacy and glory of the champions.
The stamp’s design features a vibrant and lively color scheme as its background. On the upper right, a personalized stamp is paired with a commemorative cancellation mark on the lower right, incorporating sports motifs and table tennis elements to echo the theme of the event, freezing the moment of glory for the Chinese team. The main visual elements of the stamp are flowers and the trophy, with the metallic texture of the trophy conveying the rich history of table tennis and the hard work and perseverance of the athletes. Under fluorescent light, the number “100” appears, representing the centennial of the sport’s birth; “58” symbolizes the 58th World Table Tennis Championships in 2026; “24” marks the 24th time the Chinese team has won the team championship; “12” indicates the Chinese men’s team has won 12 consecutive team titles; and “7” signifies the women’s team’s seventh straight championship. The stamp was specially designed by Zhao Enzhong, one of the designers of the “Bingwu Year” special stamp.
Since the 1960s, China Post has issued multiple sets of stamps related to table tennis, using this small format to encapsulate the charm and glory of the sport.
